Pune/Mumbai.11thadmission.net First Merit List on July 10, High Cut off

Pune/Mumbai.11thadmission.net First Merit List on July 10, High Cut off

More than 1,000 students have filled incorrect marks in their 11th admission application. Students who have written incorrect marks would be allowed to make corrections until 5pm on July 6 through schools or guidance centres.

Raqaiya Murtaza Bhusavalwala, 16, scored 71% in her Class 10 exams held by an international board. And to her surprise, she was listed at the top of the first-year junior college (FYJC) general merit list, which is much above 15 students who got perfect scores in their SSC exams.

The pune/mumbai.11thadmission.net general merit list was published on Tuesday in which the students were shown how they were ranked in the 11th admission process —though it was not an admission list. Raqaiya was displayed to have got 1,182 out 1,182 marks, while actually she scored 500 out of 700 marks. Raqaiya, an IGCSE student from Dubai said, “I filled the 11th admission form with my sister's help, but we made a mistake while applying. My actual score is 71%”.

If students do not correct their marks in the allotted day and time, their names will not appear in the Pune.11thadmission.net first merit list/Mumbai.11thadmission.net first merit list scheduled to be released on July 10 or they will get disqualified during admissions.

BB Chavan, deputy director of education, Mumbai region said, “As students are making mistakes in their applications, that is causing the errors to come up in the merit list. Students can change their marks, date of birth, caste or any other details mentioned in the application form".

The number of students scoring more than 95% have risen to 2,584 from last year’s 2, 066, and 1,683 in 2015. But students scoring in 90's have been reduced to 13,575 from 14,589 last year.

15 students from the state of Maharashtra have scored 100 out of 100, earning them top ranks in the 11th admission process. The toppers are from the SSC board itself, credit goes to additional sports and cultural marks — 15 to 25 marks — that were awarded in the SSC exams.

This also means that in the reputed colleges, FYJC cut-off would be high in the mumbai.11thadmission.net first merit list 2017. If students score identical marks, preference will be based on their English marks and date of birth.

Many Prinicpals are of the view that if this is the scene of 90 scores, then it could be worse for those scoring in the 80s and 70s. Kavita Rege, principal, Sathaye College, Vile Parle said, “Since all three important boards — SSC, CBSE and ICSE — have recorded good results this year, we are bound to see an unprecedented hike in students scoring above 95% and this means many students will find it really difficult to get into coveted colleges”.

Academicians are of the view that students who scored 80s, 70s and 60s might be allotted seats only in the fyjc mumbai.11thadmission.net third merit list in coveted colleges. Marie Fernandes, principal, St Andrew's College, Bandra said, "Students come to popular colleges so the cut-offs soar, but students applying in smaller colleges will not have much problems. Their cut-offs will be down by the fyjc second merit list or fyjc third merit list".

Mumbai FYJC Admission 2017: Mumbai.11thadmission.net Webite

FYJC 11th online admission started a week before and only one in three students could fill up both forms for 11th online admissions to first-year junior college (FYJC) due to the frequent crash of the mumbai.11thadmission.net webite owing to heavy traffic.

Despite Education department efforts to add two more servers to the existing seven, the website mumbai.11thadmission.net is slow and having glitches. Now, we can hope if the website could take the heavy traffic.

FYJC 11th admission to Mumbai and Pune is right now in full swing and this time around 3 lakh students are competing for seats. The education department has made fully online the centralised admissions for the first time and now it is for the full state of Maharashtra now the education department must make a site that does not slow down despite heavy usage.

Students said they were not able to even open the option forms which is the second part of their applications where they enter college preferences. Some of the student's cultural or sports quota marks, were not uploaded on the site. The department had already alerted the Maharashtra state board for these problems.

Colleges conduct a ‘zero round ‘ for admissions to in-house, minority, and management quotas from June 16 to June 30, but some colleges did not began the process as they are waiting for the website to function properly. Some colleges are releasing merit lists for quotas only this week.

St Xavier’s College, Fort, would declare the merit list for Christian minority students on Tuesday, while HR College merit list would be released on June 23.

Mumbai Online 11th Admission Registration Starts, http://mumbai.11thadmission.net

Mumbai Online 11th Admission Registration Starts

First Year Junior College (FYJC) 11th admission registration started with a slow start, with only around 3,500 students logging on the mumbai.11thadmission.net portal. Students are worrying for the new reservation of seats from the open category for their chances.

Parents and students are of the view that the information booklet received this time are too tough to understand. "The FYJC information booklet is like a big directory and students as well as parents face a difficult time while searching for different things. The test of the website mumbai.11thadmission.net will be judged after more sign ups takes place on the website.

The education department officials however said they had not received a single complaint for the new website http://mumbai.11thadmission.net and as days pass, more and more students are expected to begin the 11th admission registration soon. Around 2 lakh students from different boards are expected to apply soon to FYJC via the online 11th admission process. Anxious parents as well as students have called the FYJC Guidance centres for help. "We are getting calls from students about the Mumbai 11th online admission process and most of the queries are from outsider students not from the city," said a guidance centre official in South Mumbai.

Students who wish to apply under arts and culture get an added advantage during 11th online admission as the board will award up to 20 marks extra to students who excel in arts or cultural activities this time like the case of sports. These Students get a 2% reservation while applying to junior colleges. Students get a 3% reservation who excel in sports. Non-state board students are feeling the pinch. A father said, "My daughter got 96% in the ICSE examination and she also is good at arts and sports. But, she won't be eligible for the double benefit the state board students are getting. Getting a seat in the top college of choice in the first list is difficult.".

FYJC Online Admission Mumbai 2017-18

11th Online FYJC Admission 2017

Most Mumbai students prefer arts, but colleges have more seats for science, commerce. First-year junior college admissions 2017 is just round the corner.

Science and Commerce seats are more this time in Mumbai’s colleges this year despite the demand for them has seen a drop in recent years. This year, 11th admission in Mumbai colleges have 5,600 more science seats and 3,000 more commerce seats. Whereas arts and humanities seats are fewer this time. Arts and Humanities streams have 34,180 seats this year, lower than last year’s 35,269. This is ironical as more and more students are opting for the Arts stream instead of the Commerce and Science streams.

Many educationists are of the view that the arts stream was not growing inspite of the the rising demand. Suhas Pednekar, principal of Ramnarain Ruia College, Matunga said, “Since past two to three years, more and more students are taking up arts. High-scoring students who can easily get a science seat are opting for arts by choice”.

And the Arts colleges are few that meet up the expectations. Pednekar said, “There are few colleges known for their arts faculty unlike the science or commerce streams. This is the right time to improve the arts faculty courses as in these colleges the arts seats fill up instantly, but go empty in other colleges." Outdated syllabus and lack of awareness are also the causes the arts stream is not lacking behind science and commerce. The syllabus for the arts streams needs to be revised and made more ‘industry-oriented'.

Dinesh Panjwani, principal of RD National College, Bandra said, “The arts and sciences curriculum is falling back as compared to commerce stream. Arts curriculum needs to be updated with a focus on employment ” Students are not aware of the opportunities Arts stream could open for them, this could be another reason for few arts seats. Marie Fernandes, the principal at St Andrews College, Bandra said, “Commerce prepares you for a job, Arts prepares you for life. Upon seeing the larger picture, arts stream is more helpful, but mostly people fail to understand this".

Students are now focusing more on courses and subjects that are more job-oriented than the conventional options of engineering and medicine streams.

Most of the 2.92 lakh seats in the Mumbai colleges this year are for commerce, this time the fyjc online admission 2017 have 1.61 lakh commerce seats, up from last year’s 1.57 lakh.

Vidyadhar Joshi, vice-principal at Vaze Kelkar College, Mulund said, “Today’s youngsters are looking forward to enterprise. That is why Commerce has become popular.” Due to the popularity of self-financed courses like tourism, hospitality management and marketing, they have also been added to the 11th online admission process. But principals are of the view that owing to limited seats, high cut-offs and demand, these courses are really tough to get into.

Amee Vora, the vice-principal at NM College, Vile Parle said, "Such courses are in demand, as they are specialised and train students to run businesses. Students who take up these courses can work part time. The subjects prepare them to set up their own firms. And NM College has 20 to 40 seats for them"

Commerce stream’s popularity will stay for long as entrepreneurship bug is popular among students. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Youth Survey, 2017 was held recently in which students of 12 to 18 years of age said they wanted to become entrepreneurs, of which 85% respondents were from Mumbai  the highest in the country. Students in Mumbai are often exposed to great business ideas as they are inspired by watching success stories of entrepreneurs such as Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg etc.
